This place was kind of a bummer. I brought in a small bundle of clothes today for the first time. All of these clothes were great name brand items that I thought for sure would fit this place's theme (new/new with tags/like new condition and semi-pricey brands). Nothing was offered for any of my items. The woman at the counter said that my items were not in trend, didn't fit the season, and some items were "too sophisticated" for a clothing store that sold to teenagers and young adults.
While browsing through the shop, I definitely noticed multiple items of the same exact brands and styles I brought in there.

The selection of the store did have a lot of variety (I managed to find some decent items to buy for myself). However, it is overloaded with items from Shein. I find it very frustrating that they are willing to take those items instead of items that are of good quality.
The employees were nice to me, but it did seem fairly unprofessional to hear them call dibs on items they were looking through.

Overall, this wasn't a fantastic experience for me. I probably won't be back here to sell anything.

I was very disappointed in Plato’s. I had never been and I had just done a closet clean out and figured I would give it a shot for the first time. I brought in a huge XL tote full of items. The things I was getting rid of were brand names items such as Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Old Navy and then a lot of things from SHEIN that had never been worn. A lot of my name brand items had also never been worn. When I first walked in the lady asked me if I had been there before and I said no and she rolled her eyes at me and acted very annoyed when she had to explain to me how to check in. Once I was checked in I was told it would be about a 2-3 hour wait which I had no problem with since I had some other things to do around town. I spent a good 20-30 minutes walking around Plato’s before I went to do my other errands and the entire time the staff behind the counter were all on their phone giggling. There was no looking at items being brought in or helping people check out.
When I came back my items were ready. The girl that helped me was very disrespectful and rude. She started off the conversation by saying that they could only take $7 of my stuff. She stated that they appreciated the “big girl clothes” I brought in but they just aren’t their style. She also said that my jeans are all ripped and they don’t take ripped jeans when my sister JUST bought jeans with rips all down the leg there while we were waiting for my items to be checked. I was able to take the rest of my items somewhere that appreciated all of my items and took all of them. I will not be back to Plato’s Closet.

Great labels, great prices and you can sell your used clothes as long as they are of high quality and brands they buy and you get paid same day. Better than consignment.

I used to shop here regularly and gave it high rating once upon a time. However I was just in Plato's closet trying to shop and just gave up. I see the exact pair of shoes that my daughter wants for her birthday. In her exact size. They were on the counter. I ask the sales clerk if they were for sale. She says well an employee might want to buy them. I explain to her why I wanted to know, telling her my daughters birthday is approaching and ask if she can you check with that employee and confirm if they for wanted the shoes. She's currently pricing items to the side of the register so I added then you can price and tag them. She said I am sorry but some one else does the pricing making no effort to go check with the employee who might want them or employee who prices. Her tone was the one you would get if you had walked in a minute before close. She stated it was their policy for the employee's to choose first.

I said oh and left with any further need to look.

I used shop here quite frequently for both me and my kids.

Ive moved most of my main stream shopping online now.

This employee gave me a very uncomfortable experience. I spent 50min. Making sure to figure out how to post this review because of it.

She made me feel very comfortable. I hope I caught her on a bad day and it's not the new policy to be snubby.

Hate I stopped.

What does one do to shop with dignity these days. Apparently shop online...

Hence the 1 star.

I did have a better experience here recently buying my other daughter stuff and should have left well enough alone

We went in with 2 items and we asked if they could look at them and the gal said yes. Than after we checked in they said it would be 45 minutes. I said that’s crazy but I understand. Than we proceed to look at things in the store and the 2 clerks at the counter decided it was ok to talk about us because I said 45 minutes was crazy for 2 items. If the employees feel the need to talk about the costumers than maybe they should wait til they have left the store. I found this really rude and unprofessional.
