Horrible horrible shopping experience here with Morgan and the mom.

I stop in about twice a month and buy shoes for our daughter and 12 nieces and nephews between our family.
We also donate to local foster care center and church.

I went in yesterday to buy some shoes and left with about 6 pair, left behind one pair to find out if the mama would want them even though they were priced at 40$ for a child’s shoe. No box, no tag.

Upon walking in, Morgan decided to tell me they were going to put a cap on my spending because “it’s not fair to the community for them to have affordably priced shoes and me to buy them”.
I’m sorry but 40$ for a child’s shoe and 50-100$ for an adult shoe is not “affordable” for most families. Especially second hand shoes. That’s why most of those shoes are always the same ones IN there everytime I’ve been back.

The mom then went on to talk about resellers, and an issue with people buying shoes and reselling them. Weird energy, especially because if you’re getting business for selling shoes for the price you tag them at what does it matter what anyone does with them after you’ve been paid and they leave the store?
Make it make sense.

You can’t discriminate against selling to someone based on what you think they do for a job outside of the purchases they make.

Because the mom had no concern for telling me all about how she gets lots of drug dealers in that sell shoes there and she doesn’t care what they do outside of the store or with their lives.
But you care so much about what you “assume” I’m doing with mine?

Safe to say I’ll be suing for discrimination 💓

Good deal helpful staff a good christan woman can't wait for the big sale I like to call out to a little girl named Madison you embarrass my boss yesterday for your attitude you came in our store with a negative attitude for no reason you embarrass your mom you should be ashamed and disgrace Miss Casey is the only one in Rome Georgia has took me to Florida. Hey mister Dan I should tell your pastor that you came in and you basically stole from the poor how dare you take multiple set at a different size you claim that you was getting your pants for your pastor you lied to us the first time your second mistake was I know goodness where your pastor can't jump from a size small to extra extra extra extra extra large you took my best selling items. hi Miss Jordan, my name is Scott. I’m a new seller at Penny and I don’t like the way you had treated them. They’re nothing but good people and how dare you trying to sue somebody you probably don’t got two pens. You rubbed together to sue somebody you just a jealous old woman what person will take 1212 pair of shoes at one time . I understand it’s a hustle, but you don’t think about the community. We helped the community in Lyndale and people like you give y’all a bad name we do not sell to reseller so you can do all the soothing if you want to. You ain’t gonna get nothing you probably don’t have nothing to sue for but like I said how dare you this people are good to me. I’ve been shopping for over 25 years never had bad experience with them and at least a common person will say is it OK? Can I take 12 pair of shoes at one time to resell but like I said before they don’t sell the resell you take away from the commuting you’re taking away for those children do you know how many children go to sleep at night? Wanted to kill myself because they don’t have a pair of Jordans how would you feel if we came to your business if you have a job and we did that to you. You would not like it.

I've been doing business with Gloria at Penny Annie's for over 5 years. Not only do we buy, sale, and trade, we have a blast laughing and joking as I'm getting on their nerves. Gloria knows a lot about the clothing industry and she's bought her daughter on board which makes it twice the fun to shop and have a good time. Penny Annie's. Great people, Great clothing, Great shopping experience!

This is a tough review for me, since I do think this store has higher quality items and is kept nicely. However, the owner’s behavior is absurd and contradictory, and I won’t be giving her my money in the future.

As I was browsing, I overheard her refusing a customer because they were a “reseller”. She then interrogated me about my items asking if I planned to resell them. What did she think I was going to say after I knew she refused resellers? After conversing with her she revealed that she herself is a reseller (she hand picks and buys her items then flips them in her store for profit), but of course this was justified FOR HER. Her argument was that resellers are scalping items from her store that her community needs.

I’m going to give a defense of reselling, and show that her argument is flawed and that, in fact, she is hurting her community by refusing resellers from buying there.

Reselling gives people jobs and is great for the economy. It is how many are able to start their own businesses and provide for their families. Resellers also purchase the bulk of shipping labels from the various shipping services, which give those employees jobs so that they can support their own families. Many people readily buy from resellers because they have desirable items that are hard to find for prices they will happily pay. Resellers also *literally* keep thrift stores in business by repeatedly buying merchandise from them (which they get for free). These are just some reasons the owner should stop being discriminatory against resellers.

If she welcomed resellers, she could create a client base and potentially expand her business exponentially, which would give her more opportunities to truly help her community. I, for example, could have seen myself spending around $350 a month at her store and adding it to my monthly route.

Instead, I’ll just take my business somewhere else (and I think you should, too), and I’ll pay a lot less.

P.S., yes I’m a reseller and I will happily make a profit on the items I bought to fuel my business and support my family.

Love shopping here for my daughter! I found the cutest clothes for her and of course hubby loved the savings. I grew up coming to this store and enjoy finding gems for my own cfamily. I highly recommend coming here, you’re not only saving clothes from landfill but supporting a local small business and dream.
