First off, I’ve always loved Hot Topic. For years, the staff at Mt. Berry has been so accepting and kind… until recently. I don’t necessarily know what changed, but the current staff is extremely judgmental and unhelpful. I don’t feel welcome when I walk in. One of the managers (I think she’s a manager?) talks over other staff when they try to explain something, attempting to claim credit for her own. She’s very condescending to not only customers, but other staff. It’s evident that she shouldn’t be a manager because people under her know more than her. Another staffer, I believe the head manager, clearly has anger issues. Her tone is rude and not nice - nor welcoming either. Any manager like that shouldn’t be employed. There’s one girl there who’s nice. I think she’s the shorter one. She was nice to me at least.
Most importantly, nobody is helpful. They sit behind the counter and talk amongst each other. This is easily the worst Hot Topic I’ve been to.

I've been shopping at Hot Topic since they opened, I have always loved the merchandise. I don't mind that, for the most part, it is overpriced. I couldn't give 5 stars for this particular store because the day shift guy is horrible, not just rude but doesn't offer customers, or co-workers any help. He spilled his drink, didn't bother to get a mop, just grabbed a t-shirt from the bin behind the counter. I think this Hot Topic may be the worst one of all.

Clean store and nice grungy atmosphere. Prices are about standard for a mall and they have a good selection of band tees. Four stars because it's so dark in here that you can barely read prices or sizes on the clothing.

My daughter says their amount of Kirby merchandise is better than other Hot Topics she has visited.

I went to your Rome, GA store in Mount Berry Mall today, where I was told I was not able to enter and shop if I wasn’t wearing a mask. I told this employee that I have a medical condition and cannot wear one. This employee’s response was “what is your condition?”

First and foremost, what your employee did was HIGHLY illegal. No one can ask what anyone’s disability is as it is a federal violation of HIPPA and the ADA.

When I explained that to the employee, he ran back into the store and called the manager, I’m assuming. The employee began to debate my condition over the phone and they deemed my medical condition WAS NOT VALID enough.

So he gave me the number to corporate. I called the number he gave me while I was still in the mall. Corporate told me on the phone that employee was WRONG and should not have done that.

So I proceeded to walk back to the store, all to have the same problem with the same employee. After telling him I talked to corporate on the phone, he proceeded to lie about the previous exchange we had a few minutes before and denied he did anything wrong. The incident was recorded on my cell phone, CCTV in front of the store, other mall footage, and eye witnesses.

I called corporate again and I have filed a formal complaint against the Hot Topic in Rome.
