Disappointing Experience at Homewood Toy & Hobby

I love supporting local stores unfortunately I will never return to Homewood Toy & Hobby after an incredibly disappointing experience I had today. I purchased a toy for my child that broke immediately after we turned it on (drone) and when I returned to exchange it just two weeks past the exchange window, I was met with a firm refusal.

While I understand that policies are in place for a reason, it’s disheartening to see a local business prioritize rules over community relationships. It feels like a missed opportunity for them to foster goodwill and loyalty among their customers.

I truly believe that supporting local businesses is important, but I also think they should be willing to work with their community members, especially when it comes to situations that could easily be resolved with a little flexibility. I wasn’t seeking a refund, simply a toy of equal or lesser value ($38) that works. I hope they reconsider their approach in the future, as I would love to continue shopping here if they can find a way to better serve our community.

For now, I’ll be exploring other options for my toy shopping needs. Note: this is directed at the owner of the company not the kind RC repair guy or the woman who works the front end who has been nothing but kind during all the time I’ve shopped there previously.

A lovely toy store remiscent of my childhood. The toys are different than they were when I was a child but there is lots here to choose from for today’s youth. There is a wide variety of games and puzzles as well as educational toys. Of course they are a great place to go for RC cars and trains. They are pricey because of the area of town they are in, but everything is too quality

The store truly is a treasure frozen in time. I received the "Polar Express" Lionel Train Set almost two Christmas seasons ago and I can't wait to take it out each time. Their HO selection is very good, along with the Lionel too. It is really a treat to walk through and find something that makes you feel like a kid again.

I come here to visit the great selection of RC hobby parts and accessories. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend to other RC enthusiasts.

Friendly staff and great variety of toys. Many items and brands I had never seen before. The quaint hometown atmosphere is like stepping back in time.

I understand supporting local businesses but I feel a bit robbed. Spent over 300 dollars to get my vehicle up and running and fixed and they still haven’t really fixed my car after the many parts they told me to buy and they also repaired and installed parts incorrectly. If half the stuff was returnable it would be great but it’s not and I feel a little token advantage of. The picture is of the gear on my traxxas slash they put on backwards and clearly didn’t tighten it at all since it came loose as soon as I turned my car on. Outside of that they were friendly as a staff and store decently stocked.

They have a large selection of toys and a very friendly staff. We were passing through town and stopped in to see what they have. It was great seeing the huge selection of models and RC vehicles.
