Loved this hotel! Room was clean and quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were all great and the inside of the hotel was beautiful. And the best part was the location! You are at the heart of it all and can walk to everything. Such a hidden gem and can’t wait to stay here the next time we are in town!

I travel a lot for work and have traveled for 40 years. I have never written a review on a hotel before now, but we had such a bad experience at this hotel, I feel compelled to let future guests and hotel ownership know. If I could give zero stars, I would. Long story that started with a digital room check-in that indicated our room was ready. Upon opening the door, it was very clear that housekeeping had not touched the room from the previous occupant (dirty towels, trash, unmade bed, etc.). NBD, it happens sometimes. We let the evening front desk clerk know, and she kindly gave us a new room and sent an email to the manager. I asked when I might have a chance to speak with the manager to discuss, and she mentioned that she did not know when the manager would be on property as he did not let staff know when he was working. We stopped by the front desk the next morning to inquire if the manager would be in that day, and the desk clerk Jordan told us the same thing, that she wasn’t sure which days he would be on property. We left a Do Not Disturb sign on our door so housekeeping would not clean the room and came back in the evening to a cleaned room. The 3rd day, we asked Jordan again if the manager would be in (same story again) and notified her that our room had been cleaned despite the Do Not disturb sign. She began a verbal attack on us and stated that my husband had requested it, which of course he had not. Jordan was unusually combative for no apparent reason and laughed at us with the other desk clerk. Our room was cleaned again that day with the Do Not Disturb sign hung again on the door. Suddenly my digital access no longer worked, and I was told by Hilton Honors customer service that the front desk clerk can turn off digital access. The hotel is very dated with old and dusty furniture and plumbing. Most of the equipment in the fitness center was not working properly. Also note that this hotel has no handicap parking spaces. I received an email from the manager on the 3rd day that we could contact him, but we did not see the email until late in the day after he was gone. We checked out a day early, and leaving was the best decision!

Our 1st night’s stay was a Friday night and it was terrible.The toilet seat was a round padded cushioned seat placed on an elongated toilet seat. It was awful. When seated the ceramic seat stuck out under you. I have never seen this in a hotel room ever! The curtains had something horrible staining the bottom of them and what appeared to be vomit splatters on the shears. Also had a foul smell. My husband spoke with the desk agent and showed him a picture and he couldn’t believe someone put a toilet seat in like that. Unsanitary! He said it was probably done by a contractor and he would put in an order to have it replaced but no one came. Day 2! still no help and we were told the manager would be in the next day. On Sunday we went and spoke to the manager and he couldn’t believe the pics we showed him. He offered to move us to the room next door and that was it. We moved to a clean room and it was fine. On Tuesday we left at 7am and returned at 1:30pm and our room was not cleaned or freshened up. This was our scheduled day for service. We called and all the housekeeping people were gone for the day. The desk agent came and took out our garbage and gave us fresh towels. She was extremely nice and we were grateful.
I would never stay here again. Part of our family just moved to Fairhope so we plan to visit this beautiful town often but the Hampton Inn will not be on our stay list. We have been offered nothing for the nasty room and accommodations.. So disappointed because the location is wonderful. The building has seen better days but the filth is inexcusable!

Initial room was nasty and had round unsanitary padded toilet seat for an elongated toilet. Rim protruded out below as you were seated. The padded seat was unbelievable and not ok in a 3 star hotel room used by many people. Totally unsanitary. Something nasty sprayed on the curtains like someone was sick and it was never cleaned. Shears smelled badly. It took 2 days after we reported it to get a conversation with a manager on site and after contacting him in person and showing him pics he moved us to the room next door. No offer of anything to compensate us for the 1st two nights spent in a room of such poor conditions. The room we moved to was fine and clean. |However on the day we were scheduled for housekeeping service they did not come. We left at 7AM and were back in the room by 1:30pm and reported that we needed our room serviced(garbage removed and clean towels, beds freshened) and were informed that housekeeping had left for the day and somehow missed us. The person at the front desk did come and was very nice. She emptied our garbage and brought clean towels for us. The hotel is older and we do not mind that at all. It's charming, and the location is great. But the nasty rooms and delay in helping us with no offer to make it right will prevent us from ever staying here again.
