I went in today knowing what i had for cans and bottles and this guy gives me only 29 dollars!!!!! didn't count any of them at all. when I always count my cans and bottles I total 875 cans 253 plastic bottles and 25 cents worth of glass that equals to exactly 55.55!!!!!!! then I mention to him that I have over 800 cans then only gives me 41 dollars instead this place needs to be shut down immediately don't go there ever

Has anyone else been ripped off by this place of business yet? This was my second and LAST time taking my refundable cans/bottles to this establishment. Today I PURPOSELY only took in 2-24 pack's and 3-12 packs of diet coke along with 2-6 packs of bottles. That equates to 96 cans or bottles. When I do the math @$.05 cents per can I should have received $4.80, however, I was only given $3.80. Therefore, they shorted me $1.00. The time before this I watched and counted with the employee handling my redemption and that time they shorted me again $1.00. I refuse to associate with less than honest people. They have also had a "free will donation" box to assist the business in costs to help keep them open...I'm sorry I work equally as hard for my money...you need to be honest. I will NOT return!!

After waiting about 45 minutes just to have my cans counted. I get the money and realize yes I counted them a head of time and yes I was shorted by a dollar. I was like fine at least I have a place to get my cans. Then the guys tells me to not forget a donation and watches for me to put one in. How rude! I get they have to make money to stay open, but to demand a donation?!

Rude every time I'm in there. I count my cans and even write how many are in the bag on the bag itself and I'm told I'm the lier and don't know how to count my cans. I recount my cans 3 times before even bringing them in. I have been ripped off numerous times. At this point roughly $30 and then they ask for a donation. Ridiculous to me. Tired of being treated like garbage.

FLIPPING TERRIBLE SERVICE. I have NEVER BEEN so mistreated by a store owner in MY LIFE. I am embarrassed, hurt, and downright pissed off! The owner and a hispanic female were working. They have two counting tubs in there, which they need a bigger establishment..its awful in there! Saw a cockroack, flies are buzzing, and a LINE OF PEOPLE WAITING to get their pop cans counted... Here's what happened: A gentleman was already in there getting his pop cans counted, he had a TRUCK LOAD, I believe he walked out with nearly $70 in return money at the end.. Anyway- the Hispanic woman and the owner were each at a counting tub, counting cans and seperating them into the appropriate bags (Coke, Pepsi, etc..). 10 minutes had passed, by then, the $70 guy was STILL getting his cans counted, another younger fella came in, a lady waited outside, and then another couple was also waiting outside... The Hispanic gal and The owner just kept counting.. ANOTHER 10 minutes went by... All of a sudden, the owner looked at the $70 guy and stated his total (nearly $70), gave the man his cash and out the door he went.. 'Now wait a minute! Wasn't the hispanic gal also counting his cans..?' I thought to myself. Here we are, patrons, sweating, trying to keep an eye out for roaches, flies buzzing around our faces...and what EXACTLY is she doing? ...So, I asked! "Weren't you counting his cans as well to help it go faster?" ...she said in broken English, "No, I'm counting cans for here..." I was a little appalled. By this time, Im drenched in sweat, people lined up out and around the door, and to top it off, the little weasel of a young fella that came in after me, BUDGED...!! He just took it upon himself to start dumping his cans into the owners count tub. I said to the gal worker, "With all these people, can't you put counting your cans on HOLD, and take care of your customers? Get us counted and out of here?" All of a sudden, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY I RUN MY BUSINESS, YOU CAN TAKE YOUR F!#KING CANS AND GET THE F@$K OUT OF HERE, WE DON'T NEED ANY BULLS&#T TODAY LADY! GET THE F%*K OUT!" ...I stood my ground and said, "No! Im not leaving, you're going to provide service to me that you offer! You have people lined up around the corner, and here she is counting cans for you! Terrible customer service, and lack of attentiveness on your part! And how dare you talk to me that way!" He continued to yell obscenities at me, and then the Hispanic female started in on me.. I was wondering at this point if I was going to have to protect myself from a physical altercation, these PEOPLE ARE NUTS. I just wanted my damn cans counted for crying out loud. I had two garbage bags of cans- I emptied them into his bin, and walked to the trash can and tossed my bags in- she stated, "You take your garbage with you! What do we look like? A landfill?.." I said, "YES. Yes it does look like a landfill in here." The owner scoffed at me, threw money at me, and I left.
I cried all the way home. What a POS owner, and a POS establishment. I will be donating my cans to the Boy Scouts from now on. Their can collection bin is located out by McDonald's. Also, the Humane Shelters also collect... Not sure where though.
I'd advise EVERYONE to do the same. Don't patron this place. It's gross, and the owner is even worse.

I have been shorted by several dollars countless times. The employees treat you like you're an inconvenience. And lately, the store is almost never open during their normal business hours. They're closed more often than not. It was much more efficient when the grocery stores did it.

I had to say this is another "so-called" redemption center, but it seems its more of another crappy small town iowa business enforcing crazy rules to get your cans cashed in, so they can make more than their fair share off you. Regardless, the owner has passed, and seeming as he wasnt interested in running a decent place with normal hours, maybe estherville will gain a real recycling center that isnt bent on torturing the recycler? probably not.... the employees do treat you as a burden, and this is sad. the can counts are off as well. This is a very poor, immature way to run a business. cmon people, customers are your business' lifeblood!
