It has been six years since my son took lessons with April, and to this day, he remains terrified of learning how to swim. Her letting him go in the water to "teach him a lesson" has left a permanent fear of water or any swim instructor. If I'd known the lifelong anxiety and fear she would instill in my autistic son, I would have never stepped foot in those doors. He is nine years old, and as we prepare to try another instructor, the morning is filled with tears and pleas to leave if the new teacher is anything like April.

I signed my 5 and 7 year old up for swim team prep classes. They both accomplished more in one lesson than 6 months at Goldfish Swim School. April is a professional and very experienced. My kids did not cry, they had a great time. Both of my kids have done ISR and they both cried in ISR but they learned how to float in 6 weeks. I came here to say April is great. Sometimes kids get scared when they are learning to swim and they cry but that’s not the mark of a bad instructor. I thought she was good with my kids, no nonsense, and very effective. She reminded me a lot of Coach Barbie from the Barracudas in the 90s. If you’re frustrated with your child’s progress at another swim lesson try Aqua April.

Not a good teacher for kids younger than 10. I did not know I was taking my kids to a boot camp style swim lesson. I gave it 4 lessons, she berated my 4 year old today and made her stand in the pool, "not sit", and couldn't do anything but stand in one place. She's a tough lady and we read that in the review, they make you pay upfront for all the lessons and offer no refunds, BUYER BEWARE!! My 8 year old was always nervous about going and never warmed up to her. My mother in law, who owns 2 very successful and respected child care centers, attended the lesson today, she was not afan of the teaching methods. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt due to the money we invested, it was a poor decision on my part. If you love your kids, avoid this class. Trust these bad reviews.

April is an incredible instructor for little ones learning to swim. She is patient, makes the kids laugh, and is consistent with her teaching. My 3 year old son has learned an immense amount in our short amount of time taking lessons with her. She likes to get to know the parents and encourages them to get involved at home as well, which I like. If you're looking for a swim teacher, I would highly recommend going to Aqua April!!

This lady will yell at your kids and be humiliating towards them. She loudly said to a little girl in class who had to blow out her nose after water got in there "That's disgusting, don't blow your nose out in my pool". This same girl was scared to go under water and swim a length that would take about 8 seconds, but April kept making her try and the girl was scared and started crying pretty bad, at this point April gave the crying girl no warning and shoved her head under water to make her swim the length she wanted her to. I got up and grabbed the little girl out of the pool (not my child) and told April that she was about to drown her and that you can't just shove babies under water. She is dangerous and scary.

Took my 2 grand boys, ages 20 months and 4. She has a very gruff demeanor. She made no attempt to gain their trust. Didn't even talk to them first. The baby screamed the entire time and she just said he was fine and kept telling him, I got you, your safe with me in a stern voice. He had zero confidence in her. She was better with the 4 yr old but not great. I would say take your older kids, not young ones.

If I could give no star, I would. Took my 2 grandsons, ages 3 and 5. She put them in the pool and began her fear camp. She never explained to them what she wanted them to do or that they needed to hold their head under water. So when they would bring their head up, she forcefully would hold them under water. To watch them struggle and her continue to hold them under water was horrific. They went in smiling and excited and within minutes were crying and begging me to leave. The oldest one had nightmares for 3 days that she was drowning his brother. I do not recommend her for anyone. I wished I would have read her reviews before I paid her $500 for 1 lesson.

Mrs. April is absolutely great at what she does. Thought my son how to swim, float and dive in a very short time. I highly recommend her services to anyone who is looking to have their kid learn to swim.
