This is a dual review of Johnny B Construction since Johnathon Brundrett works for both companies.

The job:
Renovated master bathroom, master closet, kitchen, dining room, living room, added a laundry room, got new wood floors.

Overall impression:
Happy with the work, but it has been a difficult process especially since the work is not done. Although it is nearly complete (98%), Johnathon Brundrett did not fulfill all the tasks that we discussed over the past 12 months. This was initially supposed to be a 3 month project per Johnathon. COVID-19 slowed things down, but a large reason for delay was due to poor planning and mismanagement by Johnny B. Construction.

In terms of working with Johnathon, pleasant to have conversations with, but was not reliable. Many mistakes were made during the whole process (not following design plans, forgetting design plans, damage to materials requiring repair to name a few examples). In the end, Johnathon stopped returning our calls and messages and we have been unable to discuss when the rest of the work will be completed. He behaved unprofessionally at the end so if that’s important to you then do NOT hire him. If you want someone who is more than surface level nice and accountable to work on your home, do NOT hire Johnathon Brundrett (Johnny B Construction).

We have hired other subcontractors to complete the work (and still in the process of hiring and scheduling).

The quality of the work ranged from 2-5 stars. The experience and working with Johnathon Brundrett started at 4 stars and ended with at a 1 star.

Hard to say where to start. As a business owner I’m reluctant to leave reviews and tend to give business owners the benefit of the doubt. I’ve given the owner of this company every chance to make it right but not getting anywhere so resorting to sharing my opinion.

In a nutshell, what was estimated to be a 2-3 month project has been now been ongoing for 7 months. The length of time this job has taken has taken is not the problem, as I understand getting supplies and finding help is tough given today’s environment.

What was problematic and went wrong here was being completely ignored and not replied to when reaching out for updates and ETAs on what was going on. If it weren’t for me reaching out to Jon Brundrett the owner, I would have never been given updates. At this point (7 months in) I have an 80% completed job and am not having my texts, emails, phone calls replied to. Not one response on what’s going on. I’ve paid for the entire project so not only am I sitting here with a partially completed job, but I’ve paid for a few thousand dollars worth of work that hasn’t been done, as it is apparent this company is floating your money and requires your money before work is complete (to my assumption) to help pay for work on other jobs.

Before writing this review, I even requested the monies back for items I’ve paid for but not complete. If I could just get the money for the work I’ve paid for and not yet gotten, I would have not resorted to writing this review. I even made this offer clear to them. Upon this request, I gave them a week to reply unfortunately to no avail. Some of the money I paid for is deposits on furniture I am to be receiving but even the piece of furniture hasn’t been given to me. So I have paid for tangible things that have not been given to me and now being ignored.

In summary, do not pay this company for work until it’s complete because once they get your money you are a complete afterthought. Also, you may need to enjoy being a general contractor on your own because you’ll end up calling various vendors he uses to seek updates as they won’t provide you any.

As a business owner myself, Jon has conducted business with me at my place of work. I was warned by other customers who have used Jon Brundrett’s services to not pay him before him completing his project. I thought the rapport I built with him at my place of work was going to make my experience different than others. I was completely wrong and am embarrassed I put faith in their company to take care of me. It is unfortunate but I am out time and money using this business as well as still having excess and old housing materials left laying in my back yard not cleaned up (which demolition and cleanup was part of the bill I have paid).
